Army of Two Preview
With all the attention this November going elsewhere, (Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4) Army of Two is one of those video games that seems to be under the radar. Army of Two is a third person shooter that entails cooperative gameplay. It seems to be more of a satirical take than the gritty third person shooter Gears of War. Gamers will be in control of two mercenaries throughout the duration of the game. In the single player campaign, gamers will be in control of one mercenary (the other will be controlled by the artificial intelligence). Two player cooperative play is where the game really might shine. The game will feature something called an aggrometer meter. This accentuates how much attention you are drawing to yourself. A high aggrometer meter will indicate that foes will hone in on your location. The trick is to have one player fill up the aggrometer meter, and the other player flanks the enemy from the other side. Gamers can also use their teammate to provide suppression fire and utilize one teammates shield as the others shoots their opponents. Players can use cover (ala Gears of War) to have advantageous positions. Army of Two is coming out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game is slated for a November 2007 release date.
